The region of Southeast Asia has been a tourism hotspot for the past 2 decades. As for visiting the region in the post-pandemic, here’s our guide on how you can enter tourism hotspots in Southeast Asia.
Fully vaccinated travelers from any country may enter Thailand without undergoing quarantine. However, travelers must book an accredited or SHA+ hotel while waiting for the result of their RT-PCR test. Thailand also offers the SandBox Program in which fully vaccinated travelers may enter the country through Phuket and Samui Sandboxes, and stay for at least 5 nights in designated SHA+ hotels in Pattaya, Phuket, Khao Lak, Krabi, Samui, Koh Phang Ngan, or Koh Tao before they are allowed to visit other parts of Thailand. But for unvaccinated travelers, must quarantine for 5 nights upon arrival in designated hotels in Bangkok. Samut Prakan, Pattaya, Phuket, or Samui.
Fully vaccinated travelers who are entering Vietnam by air must present a negative RT-PCR test result 72 hours prior to departure. A 30-day visa is also required for foreign visitors, except for citizens from Brunei, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Belarus, Denmark, Italy, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, travelers must have medical/travel insurance covering COVID-19 treatment with a minimum coverage of USD10,000.
RT-PCR test is no longer a requirement for fully vaccinated travelers who wish to visit Cambodia. However, a travel visa and insurance are required for every foreign visitor. Unvaccinated or non-fully vaccinated travelers will be required to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine designated by the Ministry of Health.
Foreign tourists may enter Bali if they are fully vaccinated and has a negative RT-PCR test result taken within 24 hours prior to departure. Visitors must also present a short visit via or entry permit as provided by the Indonesian government, proof of health insurance with a minimum coverage value of USD25,000, and proof of paid booking for accommodation in Indonesia.
Foreign tourists who wish to travel to Malaysia must download the MySejatera app to register for their visit. Fully vaccinated travelers must validate their COVID-19 vaccine certificate on mysafetravel.gov.my. Visitors must take a pre-departure RT-PCR test within 72 hours and expect to take a supervised antigen test upon arrival. A 5-day quarantine is required for partially and unvaccinated travelers.
Fully vaccinated travelers must present proof of vaccination and register their visit to the TraceTogether app. 3 days prior to arrival, visitors must submit SG arrival card and e-health declaration form through the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority website. RT-PCR test must also be taken 48 hours prior to departure. While for partially vaccinated or unvaccinated visitors, they must undergo a 7-day Stay Home Notice at a designated accommodation and undergo a PCR test after completing the mandatory quarantine.
